I wonder if someone has a solution for the following. We run a mixed NOS environment. Novell 4.11, Novell 5.0, Windows NT 4.0 and 2000 servers. We also use, until we move to Novell 5.1 or even 6.0, two protocols TCP/IP and IPX/SPX. At the moment I am testing W2K Professional as our new client with Novell's client 4.8 SP3. The problem I have encountered is slow browsing on the NT 4.0 servers and in some lesser extent the netware servers. What can be done to improve browsing? Novell says on it's website to try the following.... Disable Netbios. Of course, that's the easy answer, but may not always be an option. The following are all Netbios/NetBT related parameters. Various more granular options include: - Disable Netbios over IPX (nwlink) - Under HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\Parameters - BcastNameQueryCount - consider setting to dword:00000001 - BcastQueryTimeout - consider setting to dword:000001f4 (500ms) - NameSrvQueryCount - consider setting to dword:00000001 - NameSrvQueryTimeout - consider setting to dword:000001f4 (500ms) - NodeType - consider setting to P-node, dword:00000002 - EnableLMHOSTS - consider disable, dword:00000000 - EnableDNS - consider disable, dword:00000000 and To change the provider order in Windows 2000: My Network Places - Properties - on top bar Advanced - Advanced - Provider order - Highlight Netware and click the down arrow( or Microsoft and click the up arrow). Click OK and if needed, Cancel. Go back in to make sure that change took place. Reboot. This does speed up things a bit ....but not dramatically.. Has anyone seen this and found a solution for this Thanks in advance Eric ------ You are subscribed as [email protected] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
