We saw that but used the hotfixes a long time ago. Could not agree more.
Anyone that does not have these hotfixes in place needs SP2.

That is all we have had to do to get them back except for one became
unauthorized twice.
Our SP2 roll-out is done. We are hoping that it fixes DNS replication
problems we have been fighting. We did not see this problem on limited test
deployments so we went forward with a firmwide deployment over a 5 day
period and it did not come up until the very end.
What have you seen that makes you say it is a must on DC's?

I have seen this behavier when changing domain controllers. I promoted 2 new
DCs and then removed 4 old DCs (same domain). A few days later none of the
DHCP servers where authorized......
I just removed them and added them in the authorization list. They were
still in the list but they reported in the event log that they were not
authorized.
I just think you should know before killing SP2 (SP2 is a must on domain
controllers...!)
Good luck.

Subject: W2K SP2 and DHCP authorization
We just completed an upgrade to SP2 over the weekend.
Since the upgrade we have had 4 of about 60 DHCP servers come up as
unauthorized this morning. We never saw this before and are guessing
this
could be a result of the SP2.
Anyone out there had similar experiences?
