Don't know if it is possible or not, but we just set up 2 NAV servers, one
to manage local (i.e. desktop) clients, and one to manage remote clients.
We configured the local server to push out the updates, and the remote
server to schedule remote clients to live update. This works really good
for us.

Thanks,

Is it possible to use the same server but make a few groups for it to
manage? I would like to make a couple groups because desktops and laptops
need to be managed differently.

What do you mean "recover" ? They wouldnt care much about their parent
server.
If you want them to hook up onto another parent its basically the same than
bring them from unmanaged to managed. I usualy do this by giving them the
grc.dat of the new parent.
