You also need to run imagecfg.exe with the -l switch against the app to
enable it to use the additional memory.  This executable is found on CD
2 of Enterprise.

To check the memory used just go to Task Manager and look for the
process.
Also look at the tab that shows usage for memory; you will see how much
memory is allocated to the kernel.

You can give 3Gb to the application and leave 1GB to the OS by
specifying a /3GB switch in the Boot.ini file. Is there any way other
than checking Boot.ini to see whether 3Gb is actually given to the
app on a server? Checking Boot.ini is not robust because it can be in a
state where /3GB is modified but the system is yet re-booted.
