WTF do users need napster for on a business machine?
Who tracks your licensing compliance?

I don't like users enough to give them that kind of access to my machines.
As for desktop visits there are numerous methodologies for maintaining the
software configuration of machines remotely and uniformly.

I work enough hours without chasing down broken machines because someone
decided to upset the balance and intsall a Zip drive. (BTW That is a
specific shot at Iomega - not random.)

That's not what I meant. You and your team mates do not allow users to have
local admin rights? What if they need to install Napster or an instant
messenger? ;)
I found that not granting local admin rights causes more visits to
individual machines etc. If you have things secure on servers then you
should be fine.

Correct NT 4.0 allows users to release and renew with just normal user
rights ( Not admin or power users group)

Is your network so strict that they don't allow the user to have local admin
rights?

Looks like you need to be at least a power user to run IPCONFIG /Release or
Renew under Windows 2000. Does anyone know of a way to grant rights to
allow users to run IPCONFIG / Release and Renew. I really do not want to
add general users to that group if I can help it.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff
