Whose VPN product are you using? Are you using the VPN functionality built
into the OS? What OS?

I didn't misunderstand you. It sounds like you are using a VPN option built
into the OS, either L2TP over IPSec, or PPTP depending on the OS.

It also sounds like if you place a shortcut to the VPN connectoid you are
prompted to connect and you want to avoid the prompt? Is that accurate?

Depending on the vendor? Perhaps my original email was not claer enough. I
have connected the DSL modem to the router. So my PC automatically connect
to the Internet once it is up. However, I have to manually connect the VPN
to my company's network. I have tried to let it automatically dial up in
Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections. But it does not work. So
I wonder what the options I have to automatically connect to the company
network.

BTW, you talked about the shortcut. When I tried it, I only can get a
shorcut of the connection that is already in 'My Network Places'. I wonder
how I can setup the shortcut to 'Connect' the selected connection?

Thanks.
