You need to use the "shared as" name to connect not the printer name. Look under printer queue properties / sharing
cheers Dean -----Original Message----- From: Brett Wesoloski [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, 15 November 2001 10:52 a.m. To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: printing using DOS I am having trouble setting up a program to print in dos on W2K workstation. In windows 95 I create a printer using LPT:1 then I go into the properties go to the detail tab and use capture printer port to select the printer to print to. Everything works fine. Well with W2K I can not do this. I have tried to use the arcticle How to Print to Network Printer from S-Dos-Based Programs. It gives this example net use lpt<x>: \\<printserver>\<sharename> /persistent:yes When I go to the printer as if I was going to set up a network printer I have this information \\KTL\Epson DFX-5000+ (Copy 2) So I have tried this command line net use lpt1: \\ktl\epson dfx-5000+ (copy 2) /persistent:yes and I have tried net use lpt1: \\ktl\epson dfx-5000+ /persistent:yes I get this message The network resource type is not correct. Any idea's on what I am doing wrong?
