It is always a safer move to use separate partitions when dual-booting. I have always used this setup, and never have problems, and I run 4 OS's on my workstation, win98, win2k Pro, win2k SErver, and Linux.

For instance my video drivers as well as audio and mouse drivers. I'll have to check the logs and see what comes up. If it comes to it I'll unistall all the new drivers from within W2K Server and see if that helps. Thanks as well Jeff. I didn't install to a seperate partition. I rearranged the existing to an NTFS partition and installed to a seperate directory. Could that cause a problem? -----Original Message----- From: Huot, Denyse [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, November 19, 2001 9:56 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Dual Boot Help I have a dual boot Laptop with both Professional and Server. I've installed server onto a different WINNT dir (W2KNT). One thing that I had to watch out for, was installing software, I had to make sure I was installing into the correct Directory, whether I was in W2K Pro or W2K Server. I haven't had any issues with both of them installed. I guess it probably all depends on what you have installed since (if anything) and where you installed it to. Are there any logs? Any Hardware conflicts/drivers need updates? Hope this helps, Denyse -----Original Message----- From: Kevin McClain [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, November 19, 2001 10:38 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: Dual Boot Help Good morning all, I've recently installed an instance of Server2000 on my machine. I now have Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server running on the same machine. I've noticed that since installing the server 2000 my machine has taken to completely hanging up. The keyboard freezes as does the mouse forcing me to reset the computer. This happens when booted in either Professional or Server. Has anyone got any ideas as to what may be causing this? On a side note, I installed the server system files in a new directory not in the WINNT directory. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great day.
