All,

People here at work are fond of a little program called "SimpleCheck"
which periodically checks a POP server and tells you when you have mail.

The problem with this program is that our email account passwords are
authenticated against the domain, which means every 60 days they change.
After you change your domain password, the SimpleCheck program continues
to check email with the old password it has stored within itself. It
eventually tries enough times that the account gets locked out.

Are there any programs that are actually cleverly written with some sort
of thought put in? Preferably free software.
