Hi

I normally use a 45k nifty tool called... guess: uptime.exe.
I know there's 1000 more ways to get the uptime, but i got "attached" to
this little .exe. Here is a real output of it:

-snip-

Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]
(C) Copyright 1985-1999 Microsoft Corp.

D:\>uptime
\\PBORRACHA2000 has been up for: 20 day(s), 15 hour(s), 0 minute(s), 2
second(s)

You can also point it to a server , for example:

D:\>uptime hlcfile
\\hlcfile has been up for: 83 day(s), 12 hour(s), 52 minute(s), 36 second(s)

-/snip-

If anyone would care to have it, feel free to ask.

I just want to clear up a misunderstanding that several people have about
the System Idle Process (sorry if anyone finds this irritating):

The System Idle Process will NOT give you the server uptime, this shows how
much processor time not used...other processes will use processor time and
this will of cource affect "uptime". This way of measuring uptime will only
be a estimate - only if the server has very little to do.

For example a computer I have at home have been trying to crack a winzip
passord for one week now, guess what, the system idle process is almost zero
- does that mean that my uptime for this computer is zero: NO.

Look at Taskmanager. Look at the System Idle Process and it will give you
an the time.

Does anyone here know how to tell how long its been since a server was last
re-booted?

TIA,
Duane
