Thanks Ed, As it turns out, the problem isn't even WINS- from a computer on ONE airport I can't even PING a copmuter on ANOTHER airport! It's the darndest thing- I have to ask our infrastructure guy whether they're on a switch or a hub. What kind of access points are you using? Are they 802.11b standard??

We plugged them into hubs and they worked perfectly. Just a thought. -----Original Message----- From: Alexander Kha Do [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, October 16, 2001 12:15 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: WINS, SMB, Apple Airports Have any of you folks ever played around with Microsoft File and Print Sharing via wireless networks? I can't always get UNC names to register even through I am using WINS. I've got a lab with the following configuration: 20 IBM NetVistas with LinkSys WUSB11's (Windows 2000) 2 Apple Airports with 7 channels of separation (Channel 4 and Channel 11) All computers have File and Printer Sharing enabled. All the computers are configured to use the same WINS server which is located on a different subnet. There is one computer in the room with resources that all the other computers need to access. Not all the computers in the room can always connect to this one machine via UNC. This is odd because the machines are all using WINS, so theoretically they should know how to find the computer. What I am not sure of at the moment is if only computers on the same airport can see each other. You guys ever play with this stuff or know of any issues?? ========================= Alex Do Desktop OS Specialist Information Technology Services Occidental College (323) 259 1428 1600 Campus Road Los Angeles, CA 90041 ------ You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------ You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------ You are subscribed as [email protected] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
