Thanks Tim, I have had NT integrated authentication working for IE browsers but suddenly no-one could access their sites when they tried to log on, kept getting 401.1 Unathorised: Login Failed.
Even when trying to logon using Administrator username/password and the Administrator definately had Full Control in NTFS permissions to the root web folder I cannot get authorised. Do you or anyone know why this would be? I have no idea what could have changed to stop anyone who has permissions being able to be authorised? If I add Everyone - Full Control to the root web folder users go straight in, but that is not what I want. Any ideas? I am totally stumped. However, if users will be using Netscape or some other browser, then you will have to use basic authentication as they do not support the NT Challenge/Response protocol. To increase security for users that use IE, you can enable both forms of authentication as IE will use NT integrated if it is allowed before trying Basic/clear text and the other browsers will use basic. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Hylton Goss Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 5:44 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: Basic or NT integrated Hi, Does anyone know if you have to use Basic authentication when someone is accessing a secure website via the internet and are therefore not part of any domain or can you use NT integrated over the internet? On a Standalone Win2K Adv server, no domain controller and no active direcrory.
