They do not function... They just sit there in the server with a blue wire coming out of them... ;)
The first NIC, has the IP address which is used to register our domains the Network Solutions. It is also the IP of our AS Number. The NIC has a gateway assigned to it. All workstations here look at the First NIC IP address and all of the workstations are on that network. The second NIC uses another public IP address from another class C, but it has no gateway assigned to it. No IP/SEC. No IP filtering. Does this help?
