Yes, you can have both token ring and eithernet cards in the same servers.

You could do what you dscribe, buT I would spent an extra 70-80 bucks and
get at leats a small 10/100 hub or switch and connect the ethernet cards
this way.

It eliminates the odd-ball crossover cable being around and possibly
confusing your successors and gives you place to hook up something like a
laptop for troubleshootin purposes.

At least that's how I'd do it.

I have a client that currently has a token ring network. They have added a
new server to handle SQL Server. This server needs to be connected to the
existing network. Can they simply add an ethernet card to the existing
server and using a crossover cable connect the two servers so that they
can share data? This is what they would like to do. Not knowing token
ring, I am asking for help.
