I have a customer that has an existing token ring network. They recently added another server to handle SQL Server. They have attached this server to the token ring network. They also added an ethernet card to both the existing server and the new server. They would like to be able to backup the SQL machine to a tape drive in the PDC sending the data across the ethernet cards instead of the token ring. Not being a network expert, is this possible? They are using Veritas Backup Exec as their backup software. The bottom line is this, is it possible to control which NIC is used for a given job function? They also mentioned using the ethernet cards instead of the token ring, to copy folders from one machine to the other.
