Hi Vanessa,

What Operating system are you using on both machines??
What protocols are both machines using to communicate? Try looking in
control panel, network settings to see a list of services/protocols
installed for each network adapter.
What type of network cable? RJ-45 plugs are similar to telephone plugs, a
lot of networks use this, but could be somehthing else.

If you are running Windows 98, go to sart, in the run box type command and
enter, it will open a dos box, in there type ping followed by the name of
the other machine, if successful you should see 4 reply from messages with
the other machines IP address show. try again by ping followed by the IP
address that was returned in the previous command.

Win NT / 2000, just change the command in the run box to a cmd.

Cheers, Peter
