Boot and Shutdown

Are there any errors in the event log? Double check what services are
running and disable the ones that you don't require. Double check the
config settings for the network (TCPIP, WINS, DNS, etc...)

A couple other things I guess I would suggest would be the following:
1. Make sure the NIC is set to the proper speed
2. Test the NIC cable and replace if necessary
3. Make sure the cabling on the port itself is okay
4. even replace the NIC if you have to

I hope this helps some what.

--> I'm not sure what else it could be if you have already checked these
settings.

I would say that if you are connecting directly to the switch, then put
it
to 100/full and if you are connecting to the hub first then switch, I'd
put
it at 10/half. That would be how I would do it anyway, my preference.
Did
any of my suggestions help you Avi?

Put everything on auto and you should be fine. That's what I did.

Something like that. It all depends. If you have a 100mbit switch and
you
only set the ports to 10mbit, then putting your NIC at auto/auto or
100/full
will cause a bunch of problems (very slow/won't work all together). If
you
enable your ports to be 100/full, then your NIC should also be set to
this.
This is from my experience anyway.

Can you explain which is for what type of network.
Like if you have a 100mbit switch and card 100/full is apporpriate?

Make sure the NIC isn't set to auto/auto. Put it either on 10/half or
100/full.

Just Tcpip is configured on the Laptops, There are some os/2 boxes on
the
network using NETBUEI that might be running on the network but all PC's
I am
talking about are setup as just TCPIP.

Hello All,

I have been getting numorous complaints about windows 2000
Pro any Service Pack Boot up Slow 1 to 1.5 Minutes and Shutting down
Slow.

I was wondering if any one else has seen this and if they know of any
tricks to speed up the Boot Process and Shutdown Process. It is mostly
on Ibm t2X laptops.

It ussually Stops at the Preparing Network Connections, The current one
I am troubleshooting only has 1 drive mapped.

Thanks Matt
