RE: Windows 2000 Speeding up Boot and Shutdown Are there any errors in the event log? Double check what services are running and disable the ones that you don't require. Double check the config settings for the network (TCPIP, WINS, DNS, etc...) A couple other things I guess I would suggest would be the following: 1. Make sure the NIC is set to the proper speed 2. Test the NIC cable and replace if necessary 3. Make sure the cabling on the port itself is okay 4. even replace the NIC if you have to I hope this helps some what. Denyse --> I'm not sure what else it could be if you have already checked these settings. -----Original Message----- From: Avi Smith-Rapaport [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2002 3:12 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Windows 2000 Speeding up Boot and Shutdown did i ask you about winxp issues yet though logging into the domain? i have an xp pro machine that takes like 3 min. once you put in domain password to get in? avi -----Original Message----- From: Huot, Denyse [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, January 25, 2002 3:52 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Windows 2000 Speeding up Boot and Shutdown I would say that if you are connecting directly to the switch, then put it to 100/full and if you are connecting to the hub first then switch, I'd put it at 10/half. That would be how I would do it anyway, my preference. Did any of my suggestions help you Avi? It all depends. If you have a 100mbit switch and you only set the ports to 10mbit, then putting your NIC at auto/auto or 100/full will cause a bunch of problems (very slow/won't work all together). If you enable your ports to be 100/full, then your NIC should also be set to this. This is from my experience anyway.
