you need to ensure that:
1. the BDC has netbios name resolution to resolve the IP of the PDC - WINS
or LMHOSTS will do this
2. the VPN must have sufficient rules (firewall) to allow netbios / RPC
traffic - TCP135,TCP137,TCP139 from memory

.swynk.com Subject: Remote BDC help...
04/02/2002 15:25
Please respond to "NT
2000 Discussions"
I have an office in California and in Canada.
Canada internal ip scheme: 10.10.0.0 255.255.0.0
US internal ip scheme: 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0
Domain Controller is in the Canadian office.
The two offices are connected via VPN. I can ping and connect to all
computers from each location. I cannot see the California computers in the
network neighborhood.
I want to put a BDC in the California office.... When I install the BDC
what
do I need to do in order to get the BDC to recognize the DOMAIN...
Phil
