Hy,
im having a problem with a Windows 2000 professional SP2 installation on a Compaq M700. It started one day to another without the user having done anything ...
There is a PCMCIA ISDN card and an internal modem installed. I can use any isdn channel to dial out (MSN, ... whatever). I cannot use the internal modem to dial out (via DUN). I instantly get prompted with error 797(The connection failed because the modem (or other connecting device) was not found. Please make sure that the modem or other connecting device is installed). If i use Hyperterm to dial any number via the modem it works.
I dont have any unknown or problematic devices in Device Manager (hidden incl). I reinstalled the modem with newer device drivers. Still the same error. Q285049 mentions a RAS Async Adapter which cannot be seen anywhere.
What would be the best next step ?
Thanks.
