yo, well I was gonna just forward this message to /dev/null, hehe. hmm, icmp.dll seems to be part of winsock.. Did you install the networking stuff, maybe it is impossible to not install it with 2k, but you can with NT. Either way that dll should probably be there. Maybe if you update winsock it will fix your trouble. For more info check this out.. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=windows+2000+advanced+server%2Bicmp.dll &btnG=Google+Search
If you can actually find a copy of the dll itself you will probably have to run a regsrv32 on it, to register is with the system. Good luck with that.. A better question is why the hell do you care if SNMP runs. Unless you have been living under a rock then you would have heard all tha noise about a variety of serious vulnerabilities in the SNMP protocol. If you don't need it don't run it.. If you don't know about this read the CERT advisory... http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-2002-03.html Best of luck to you, ~John -----Original Message----- From: /dev/null [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, February 18, 2002 1:37 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: ICMP.dll missing Brand-new install of W2K Advanced Server. SNMP service fails to start because icmp.dll can't be found, and doing a look around I can't find it either. What steps to I need to take to get ICMP.dll installed? I don't have another W2K box, but I do have some NT 4.0 EE systems, can I just copy it over from there?
