Ok well moving forward, I have started re assigning the permissions as needed. Now I have hit a weird issue... When I try to push the permissions down the folder hierarchy - I get a few "permission denied" errors - which is fine (this is only happening on some individual files, not folders). So when I group select a bunch of files, it doesn't seem to take effect when I try and take ownership (to modify the permissions). Then I have to do some of the files one by one... Is there a way to force ownership all the way down the file hierarchy?

Typically this would indicate someone copied files across servers. If permitted a user might have dragged a number of files to a desktop and then, realizing the error dragged them back. Also, could be a CACLS script, but that is less likely. There are other possibilities, but those seem the most likely. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Dustin Krysak Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2002 2:15 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: Permissions - *poof*! Does anyone know of any reasons why I would come into work this AM and have my permissions lost on my shares and folders? Is there any kind of known issues or events that can cause this? (Besides user error) because that is definitely not the case here.... Thanks!
