My company tends to work from 6:30 am - 8:30 pm depending on people who
like to work early and those who like to work late. It's a very busy
environment, so any major changes I have to make I usually announce a
scheduled downtime at about 6:30 pm on the night I plan to make the
change.

I announce that the particular server or service will be partially or
totally unavailable during that time several days before I schedule the
outage, and then a reminder email on the day of the scheduled outage.
