Yes Here is what I did when I built my domain:
1. Installed a W2K member server and installed the DNS service. Created a Primary zone for my domain and told it to allow dynamic updates. For example mycompany.com 2. Installed another member server and ran dcpromo to make it the DC for my forest root. I pointed it to the server in #1 for DNS. 3. Then I ran dcpromo on the server in #2 and made it a DC for a new domain. Mydomain.Mycompany.com Then I made the Mycompany.com and the Mydomain.Mycompany.com zones AD Integrated 4. Then when I built the 2nd dc for mydomain.mycompany.com I installed DNS and the Mycompany.com and the Mydomain.Mycompany.com zones were automatically replicated. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: Morgan, Joshua [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, March 22, 2002 2:50 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: AD DNS So when you do them in the same domain does the Primary Zone Just show up Joshua Morgan PH: (864) 250-1350 Ext 133 Fax: (413) 581-4936 [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: Evans Chris - cevans [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, March 22, 2002 3:36 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: AD DNS Umm Not sure if that will work or not. My DNS servers are in the same domain. Would be easy enough for you to test though. -----Original Message----- From: Morgan, Joshua [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, March 22, 2002 2:23 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: AD DNS Ok Server1 is Root Domain Server Server2 is Child Domain Server This should still work right? And I do not have to set up any Zones? That's cool Is this documented anywhere?
