Hello all,
This is kind of an odd question. I have to provide a remote facility with
the ability to check their email. Now this sounds easy enough. This is
only a temporary fix for a couple of weeks, till Verizon can turn on the T1.
Until then this facility will needs to dial into our RAS server to get
network access and thus check their email queued on our PostFix mail
gateway.. I will be setting up a temp Win2k server at their facility with 2
modems in it. Our RAS server only supports 2 incoming calls at the same
time. The obvious solution is to setup multiple email profiles and have
Outlook dial on demand when invoked. This is a usable solution, but it
requires each of the 20 employees to walk away from their workstations and
over to a shared server just to check email..
Now I have heard of programs based on a client/server model that bind a
client PC's com port to a com port physically on the server. Thus allowing
on demand modem sharing over a TCP/IP network.. I have not had much luck
finding this type of program.. Do any exist..? What is the price, I would
prefer something free/share ware as this is just for a couple of weeks...
Does anyone know of any software that does this..? Any help/advice will be
much appreciated..
Thanks,
~John
