If you can log in the computer locally as administrator, then you CAN
recover any files you want on the system.  Also, if all you need is
to log in to the new domain, you can convert the system to workgroup
then join back in to the new domain.  All these can be done if you
can log in as local administrator.

Is there docking station software on the laptop? Remove that and see
if u can log on to your network then...

If you're going to obliterate this system and reinstall anyway, why
don't you just overwrite the existing partition?

Seems simple enough to me!
