I think that it depends on what you want to stream. I have looked @ the axis network cameras. These network devices are designed for security monitoring, but can make for a great one way stream. There is NO client software, the device actually runs its own web server, so you just open your favorite web browser and connect to it. It does capture jpeg, so the vid quality isn't great. It is an easy solution for a nice price.. I guess it is kinda OT, considering you seem to more interested in 'conferencing'...
