Actually I think I got it I looked at Q252515 and it got me thinking
I looked at all the folders where my altered images were stored and the
folder name was longer than 20 characters
Example winXP.pro.Dell-D-4100

I then went back to my machine loaded the "base Image" and applied the
updates.
I did a riprep and shortened the folder name considerably
Example XP.PRO.DIM4100

I then rebooted my machine, pointed to the new image and it worked fine

I'm guessing some sort of folder name length limitation.

Perhaps there's another hotfix that's messing this up besides Q317277? Look
through the C:\Windows\ or C:\Winnt direcotry for the hotfixes and see which
files they're replacing. You could also try uninstalling one at a time and
running RIPrep each time too see which one is casusing the headache. Also,
is there more to that error? Anything in the Event Viewer?

Cheers,
Tony

Subject: [ActiveDir] RIS Issues

My RIS Server is up and Running....
I have applied the hotfixes from Q308508 and Q313069
I have added my Base images for WindowsXP and Windows2000 w/ SP2
slipstreamed into it. I went to one of my machines loaded the Base Image
for Windows XP then went to the Windows update sight. I updated with all
hotfixes except Q317277 because it changes the image and prevents riprep.
All went well, however now when I boot to RIS and choose one of the modified
images I get this from the server

Setup cannot copy the Operating System image you Selected Cannot read image
file from

Contact your system administrator.

I have run Risetup -check and all images are consistent with no errors. Also
the Original Images work fine

Any Ideas?

TIA,
Joshua
