Current home setup: I have DSL w/dynamic IP Address/Linksys Router/W2K w/AD-Integrated DNS zone. I've enabled port forwarding on my Linksys Router to make my web and email servers available. Single name space. TZO Service & Client that manages external DNS records and dynamic IP addressing. 1 DC - W2K server - DHCP - AD-Integrated DNS <--Do I need this or Primary DNS? 1 Exchange 2k server Sec. DNS <--Do I need this? 1 web server - Sec. DNS <--Do I need this?
DNS shows: SOA - dc.domain.com NS - dc.domain.com Host - IP of web server Host - IP of DC Host - IP of internal mail server Host - mail - IP of external address or public record for mail server Host - www - internal web server address Host - www - external address or public record address for web server - this address changes periodically... MX Record - mail server I'm sure this may be confusing or incorrect to some of you, but this is why I'm here. I'm simply trying to configure a single name space for my W2K environment. If I do an NSlookup on www.mydomain.com I get the IP of both my internal and external addresses. Whoopi!! An NSLookup on mail.mydomain.com only gives me the external public address. Now the problem or question is: Is there a way to manage or configure the internal DNS to be aware of the dynamic IP address changing and update accordingly? ------ You are subscribed as [email protected] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
