Hi all,

I have an NT4 server with Citrix MF 1.8 running on it. This machine has a
DDS tape drive which backs up its on system data along with that of two
other servers one of which is exactly the same (NT 4) and the other running
Windows 2000 Server. For some reason, the backup job fails with the
following error being written into the backup log:

Agent Accelerator not present - performing standard backup
WARNING: Backup servers cannot completely protect remote
Windows 2000 servers or workstations unless the Backup
Exec Agent Accelerator for Windows NT/2000 is installed
and running on each remote Windows 2000 server or
workstation to be protected. Data loss can occur if the
Agent Accelerator for Windows NT/2000 is not running
while backing up remote Windows 2000 computers.

What I would like to know is wether or not having the accelerator agent on
my remote Win2K server is a MUST to reslove this, or the agent is only for
improving the throughput for backup performance efficiency, and not
necessarily the resolution for this fault. I thought the problem might have
been to do with name resolution, but I have since then made sure the all
servers had WINS (which we use anyway)and DNS configurations and have even
configured Hosts files on these machine just to be sure. Needless to say, I
can ping and communiocate with these machine both via netbios name and IP
address just fine. Any ideas?. Many thanks.

Mustafa Ibrahim
