What do you mean, you don't have his original version? I had a slightly similar issue. I used IEAK to distribute the newest version of IE. However, the appl analyst requested that I include the active desktop option. I had some difficulty doing that until I removed all the files from the download folder I had created when I got the IE files from MS. I then reran IEAK which, seeing no files at all, downloaded the files from MS. From there it was a simply procedure to reinstall over the IE that was on the user's computer.
