Subject: VPN and RADIUS

Here is the problem. We are currently running VPN on an NT 4.0 server and
RADIUS on a different NT 4.0 server. We would like to possibly combine the
two into one box if possible and hopefully move them both to 2K. I have been
told that you can't use RADIUS on 2K without having an AD server to
authorize it as a RADIUS server but I have not read this myself. We are not
using AD yet. The main reason for doing this is to have VPN users use a
different password to connect to our network and then use their domain
password to authenticate to the servers. We hope that this would cause a
hacker to have to break 2 password so get into any data. Or does this just
sound like a lot of work for no real gain. If so can I just throw RADIUS on
a 2K box and continue what we are doing now just with 2000 instead of NT.

P.S. is there a reason why I shouldn't put VPN and RADIUS together on one
box?

Thanks in advance

Justin
