It would most likely work fine, since the IDE controllers are probably
the same. Even if they're not, you could run SYSPREP on each disk before
removing, and then it will re-detect everything when you put the disk in
the new PC. Have your new dell driver disks handy.

However, most newer hard disks are much faster/bigger than older ones,
so you might do better to run sysprep, then use Ghost to transfer the
image to the new PC's disk, and reboot from there.

I am want to upgrade all the pc's in my office that are running Win2K
sp2.  I would like to purchase new hardware and just remove the hard
drives out of the old pc's and insert them into the new pc.  Will this
work or will I run into more problems than it is worth.

Old hardware is Dell Optiplex and Dimensions

The new hardware would be Dell Optiplex's.
