I just last night set up a replacement server (from NT4 to 2000 server) as
the designated RAS server. I installed and configured it to be almost an
exact replacement, meaning I setup WINS and DHCP to be exactly like the old
NT machine. After shutting down the old machine, I was able to dial up and
communicate to most all servers in the network. HOWEVER, all my end users
running 9X machines with a specific application (FieldPro) cannot
communicate with the server, the application is running on a server that's
IP hasn't changed. In fact the only thing that has changed for sure is the
IP of the RAS server. Other then that the end users are able to access the
EMAIL server, the network shares, and even ping the IP of the Application
server, it's only when they try to use the Application that communicates at
port 22000 that they're having issues with. My question is, are there any
default restrictions besides the Deny access options that I should be aware
of. Do I have to create some sort of policy, even though I'm not running a
AD environment. Any one with suggestions or comments please, help...
