This is really contingent on what DNS structure you are using. If your
DNS supports Dynamic DNS, you should have no problem. When the machine
get its new IP address, it will register all its necessary services with
the new DNS server and everything should be working fine. If you are
not using Dynamic DNS, you will have to manually create all the service
records for the domain controller. :( On additional item to remember:
Windows 2000 has a DNS cache on each workstation. You may need to clear
this cache with

        ipconfig /flushdns

After you give the DC's their new names.

Subject: Any negative AD impact to change IP address?

Dear all,

I am running a pure Windows 2000 Active Directory environment that
supporting 25 Windows 2000 Professional workstations for nearly a year
now.

Everything runs smoothly till hearing this morning's bad news from the
network guys that the network IP scheme for the entire organisation will
be restructured. In other words, I need to change the IP address for the
established domain controller as well, not just the workstations.

Do you foresee any risk for changing domain controller IP address? If
possible, please let me know if there are articles that describe this.

Thank you in advance.
