PUTINENV was written for Windows 98 clients to give them NT-style
variables. Here is a portion of the Windows 98 section of our login
script, which describes its usage:

        REM ===================================================
        REM ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES -
        REM Add Environment Variable Settings
        REM ===================================================

        REM Insert Environment variables into Windows 98 environment
        REM %COMPUTERNAME% - Local Computer Name
        REM %USERNAME% - Logged in Username
        REM   %LANGROUP%                - Domain Name
        REM   %MAJOR%           - ?
        REM   %MINOR%           - ?

R:\SYSTEM\PATH\PUTINENV L

I was once told what Major and Minor were, but I have sine forgotten.
