FWIW we managed LMHOSTS via scripts (of course), so as long as LMHOSTS was
vorrect in \NETLOGON then the clients were set we well.

You are correct there must be a better solution than LMHOSTS though! Sorry I
don't know what it is...

Dave.

I tried changing to P-Node
With no success

I know about the LMHOST but I wanted to avoid maintaining that file on
hundreds of computers

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

How about an LMHOSTS file? With that you can force the PC to log into a
specific DC using \0x1C. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q163949 for more
details. Pay attention to this note on the page as well:
"NOTE: The Domain name is limited to 15 characters. If the Domain name
is
less than 15 characters, use spaces to fill it up to 15 characters, then
type the backslash ('\') and the 0x1C value"
