Hmmm, I don't use Red Hat, but it sounds like Apache may only be listening
on
the localhost (127.0.0.1).. Can you get to the Apache start page from the
server itself? What does your httpd.conf look like? Yup, you should check
your httpd.conf file. Did you select the firewall options during the
install? Maybe netfilter is blocking port 80.. Just some things to check.
Sorry, but I don't have any RH specific info for ya.

I just downloaded Red Hat 8 installed it as a server with Apache, have
started the Httpd service and configured the webserver.. , now from out
win2k network I can ping the IP just fine and from the Red Hat machine I can
ping the Win2k network fine, but when I try to access the webserver(apache)
from my desktop it times out and I can't even telnet to port 80 using the IP
address.... what am I missing
