I have experienced similar effects caused by having the Netware client
install.
Do you have Netware in you environment?

Subject: OT Word Drive mapping

Sorry if this is a bit OT.

I have a customer that keeps all their MS Word doc's on a network share.
They have a drive mapped on all pc's. When users create a new doc and
choose a template from a particular folder, it takes well over a minute
to
display the templates in the folder and there are 2 more drives mapped
to
that pc once the folder is displayed.

I'm thinking it's some kind of macro virus, but my searching hasn't
turned
up anything yet.

I've just brought in a clean pc with a different scanner on it and I'm
going
to scan that network share this evening.

The server with the network share is an NT4 sp6A PDC. The clients are a
mix
of NT4, 98 and XP.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks,
Ken
