Subject: Re-appearing Win2k logon screen

I have a Win2k Professional box with two hard drives. We needed to
backup a
drive from another computer so the second drive was removed from this
machine and replaced with the drive from the other computer. We booted
the
machine and backed up the files. We then removed that drive and put the
original drive back into the box. Upon reboot with the original drives
the
Win2k Pro box came back up to the logon screen. The tech who uses this
machine logged on, it showed the usual screens about applying security
policy etc. ,the welcome to windows music played and a few seconds later
we
got another logon screen. We repeated this several times with the same
result.

Here is what we have tried so far:

Boot into Win2k safe mode. - We logged in and got a warning about the
virtual memory size and upon hitting ok we were rewarded with another
logon
screen.

Boot into Win2k safe mode command prompt. - We got another logon screen
about a minute after logging on.

Booted from Win2k CD repair -> recovery console. - When we selected the
C:\WINNT directory we got an immediate reboot of the machine.

Booted from Win2k CD repair -> Repair installation. Replaced all changed
files. Again, the same cycle of logging in and then receiving another
logon
screen.

Any Ideas?
