OOOH chapter 7 is a doosie. With 47 static mappings (by IP addr count), how can I go about finding which entries can be killed without breaking something vital? Go to each machine listed in WINS and make sure it's pointing to a valid WINS server and if so, delete the mapping?
Some of these static mappings are domains, what about those? Using nbtstat -a using the address it looks like those entries point to DC's. Going through the list I see some (5) static mappings point to WINS servers, mostly [1Ch] (Domain name) entries including the master WINS server pointing to itself, although a couple are [00h] entries pointing to a WINS server. A couple suspect (obsolete) ones point to addresses not pingable by the master WINS box.
