Subject: another off-topic cicso pix logging to red hat 8 server

trying to set up my pix to send it's syslogs to a red hat 8 server.. this is
the first time I have done this so I am probably missing a bunch of things

on the redhat server I have syslogd running and this is what my pix config
looks like

logging on
logging timestamp
logging monitor debugging
logging buffered notifications
logging trap debugging
logging history warnings
logging facility 16
logging host inside 10.103.1.239

i am running pix version 6.0(1)

but everytime I check the logs the redhat server says localhost syslog:
syslogd shutdown succeeded but when I type syslogd from the red hat console
I get syslogd service is already started...... sorry for the off-topic and
redhat/pix ignorance

im currently looking at cisco's website now and found a few articles and
have followed directions but can't seem to get it to work

any help is appreciated/telling me to pound sand is also appreciated
