No, it's not a free upgrade from 8.x. We're thinking about upgrading for two reasons...
1) We're still running 8.5 and would like to use the Intelligent Image Options (separate component for more $$) as well as the backup to disk options (both were also available in 8.6 but we didn't have the money to do it last year). 2) One of our sites is using Tapeware, a freebie program that they got with their tape drive, which is complete garbage IMO. Since it's so new, I haven't been able to find much in the way of reviews, etc, but we're a brave bunch around here and always have fun slamming our thumbs in the door when working with new versions... So, basically it's more timing than anything else as to why we're going to upgrade to BE9... Some of the new reports look like they might be nice though...
