We have ppl move around more than the PCs here. We use a combo department, extension and model:

Why did you quote your own message when posting? Here, I have no naming convention. Most people here own their own laptops, but are in the office regularly (and so are always on our domain.) I let them call their computers whatever they like, however if I am doing the installation, I normally just name their laptop after the primary user (the owner.) It is easily identifiable, and I would recommend it for a workplace where you can put a face to a computer. I would recommend something easier to manage for a larger corporation, but not so convoluted that it's hard to work with. Just remember that it's not very likely that the users will need to connect to each other unless that is the type of environment you have, so it's got to be a naming convention which makes your job easiest. -- Adam Smith Information Technology Officer SAGE Automation Ltd.
