We have some Windows 2000 Prof. and a server machines that, after 24 hours or so, refuse to load anymore applications, and then eventually hang. Sometimes there is an out of memory error on trying to load e.g. Explorer.
I have used performance monitor, and kept on eye on the memory usage in task manager, and both claim that there is no memory leaking or additionally utilised since the last reboot. The only thing common to these machines recently is the installation of the latest Java VM 1.4.1. We have since downgraded the Java (uninstalled/reinstalled) to see if that made a difference, and it didn't. Why are the machines hanging, apparently out of memory, when in fact they do not seem to be consuming memory, and all of the memory in these machines are working properly? Thanks very much!
