Samba is capable of using the "host" for name resolution, which on Unix, at least, results in DNS getting queried. I don't know how that would work on an AS/400. Samba still uses the SMB-over-NetBIOS-over-IP kludge that LAN Manager inflicted on us. I don't think it supports the newer direct SMB-over-IP that was introduced with Windows 2000. Yet. Samba 2.x can join an NT-style domain as a full domain member (complete with machine trust account). Samba 3.0, in early testing now, is supposed to be able to join an AD domain using Kerberos and LDAP. -- Ben Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | The opinions expressed in this message are those of the author and do | | not represent the views or policy of any other person or organization. | | All information is provided without warranty of any kind. | ------ You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
