i have deleted and re-added the machine to AD i pinged it via IP and machine name, both times is is able to reach it
my pc crashed a while ago and i reinstalled the o/s on the e drive as
opposed to the c drive, maybe this is confusing it?

when you ping the PDC is it by IP or by machine name? Do you have the
correct DNS suffix's or setting if you're running an AD? Have you tried to
remove and readd the machine to the domain?
