The previous mail was actually for the ntg board but let's summarize it ..
- i was at the dante meeting: interesting (also socially) but less
attendents than usual (45) ... a pattern that is seen with more user
group meetings ... user groups meetings are important for discussing
dev issues, distributions, tutorials, etc
- mplib project ... this is a new activity (subproject) in the luatex
project ... programming in the the luatex project is financed as part of
the oriental tex project; the mp lib project has a budget of 12KEUR and
Dante is funding half of it; other user groups will be asked for a
contribution too ... of course any financing of such activities is welcome
- there was also a presentation of the gyre project ... halfway this
year we will have all 8 fonts of the first stage ... after that ... math
- dante members will receive Hermann Zapfs new book (looks real nice) ..
so if you're not a member ... bad luck
- there was a nice and impressing talk by Richard Hirsh about mpost;
will end up as article in user group journals; some great animations too
(will probably on line at dante site)
- so ... consider coming to user group meetings
