maybe you still use default encoding; did you set

\setupencoding[default=texnansi] % or ec or whataver you prefer

also, try

\setupbodyfont[pos]
\setupcolors[state=start]

\starttext

\showfont[Serif]
\showcharacters
\showaccents

\stoptext

That way you can check how characters are constructed.
