Actually, no. (I can't have read the installation docs well enough;
where does it say I have to run this -- and what is it?)

When I try to run it now, it crashes (i.e. I get a Windows dialogue
complaining about that it did something illegal). Not much help in
that, I guess.

Yeah; I just meant that the path thing sounded unrelated to my pdfetex
problem (although it would fix the runperl problem).
