it is a bug, which is already solved:

in core-fil.tex, add grouping:

       \bgroup % added
       \cleanupfeatures
       \readfile{#2}\donothing\donothing
       \egroup % added

\cleanupfeatures disables accents, language specifics etc (needed in order 
to load run time files under french 'active colon' regimes
